WOW I love this question. Lets start off by explaining the difference between being Hacked and being Cloned.
Hacked – this means someone has gained true access to your account as if you gave them your User-ID and Password. This is the worst of all situations and it can be quite difficult to regain control of your own account.
If this happened to you, the 1st thing to note is if you are still able to get into your own account. If you can, there is only 1 solution needed, immediately change your password and make it something complex. Complex means really long and the use of special characters. It does not mean it has to be hard to memorize. Personally I keep an Excel spreadsheet with all of my logins and passwords – and – I never store this file in the cloud, that is way too dangerous. Cloud accounts get hacked all the time. A good password for instance – lets say you like using your kid’s name and birthday, that part is fine, but then add to it. For instance, John was born on 11/21/1998 so you like using john112198. Instead, make it john$112!98$$1! – so, john $ 112 ! 98 $$1 ! – use an ! in place of a one (or other digit) or just add one in, and a $. The difference in security between john112198 and john$112!98!!1! is the difference between a terrible and a really good password. You can even make a password fun, start with fourwordsuppercase (four words upper case) but all in lower-case, then add some special characters, four$words!upper$$case!1!2. Be creative, no need to go crazy, and create yourself a secure way to save your passwords like I do in a file that is only on my computer and no place else. In another blog post I’ll speak about how to create a safe-contact on your cell phone to store your password in.
Cloned – this is the more common facebook hack. This is where someone creates a fake account using your name, your picture, and the real key, your Friends List.
